FAQ
We want your college student to be successful throughout their college career. They need a good foundation and support to gain this success. At The Nine at Central’s student apartments near the UCF campus, we strive to empower your student’s health, happiness, and hard work without leasing hassles or hidden challenges. We understand the student’s needs from their home away from home, and we’re always here to help!
Individual Leases
Individual leasing means peace of mind for you. Unlike many apartments or rental houses where a joint lease is signed, your financial responsibility is only for your student’s space. If a roommate transfers to another school or moves out of The Nine for any reason, you do not have to worry about covering their portion of the rent. This is another reason The Nine is your student’s best housing option!
On-site Professional Staff
Our maintenance staff will respond to your student’s maintenance issues quickly and professionally. The Nine offers 24-hour emergency maintenance as well so that your student’s comfort is not affected.
Affordable Floor Plans
The Nine has six diverse floor plans ranging from two, three, and four bedrooms. Our leasing team will be able to help you find the perfect fit for your preferred number of roommates.
Roommate Matching
If your student does not have a roommate in mind, we can find them one! Each roommate will fill out a Roommate Matching form so that we know what they are looking for in a roommate. During the summer, we spend weeks looking at these preferences and matching them with the best person we can find!
Resident Events to Keep Students Involved
While the main focus of your student’s college career will be on graduating and getting a fulfilling job, they also need to have fun along the way. At The Nine, your student will create lifelong relationships and connections, making them even more successful. Our team plans monthly resident events to get them involved. These events range from pizza parties to karaoke nights, resume-building classes, gaming tournaments, and more. We will also keep our residents connected to events at the University of South Carolina and around town so they don’t miss anything! We want your student to succeed, so we thought of them while designing The Nine as a Living-Learning environment!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does it mean to have an individual lease?
Individual leasing means that each person is only responsible for their portion of the common areas and their bedroom. If your roommate does not return for the spring semester, you’re not responsible for their payment.
What is included in the installment?
The 9 at Centrals monthly installment includes Internet, water, sewer, washer & dryer, access to all of our amenities, and an excellent team to help you anytime you need them.
Do you have a roommate matching system?
Yes, we offer a roommate matching system. If you don’t have anyone you would like to live with, let us match you up with someone. There is a roommate matching questionnaire that you will fill out when completing your application. Make sure to fill this out completely and honestly. This lets us know more about what you want in a roommate. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions – we’re here to help.
When is my installment due?
You have three installment payment options to pay the entire amount due under the lease – one installment, two installments, or twelve installments. If you choose to pay a single installment for the whole of the amount, that single installment is due August 1. If you choose to pay in two-semester installments, those installments are due on August 1 and January 1. If you choose to pay in twelve installments, the first installment is due on August 1, and the remaining eleven installments are due on the 1st of the next eleven months. Please note that these are all installment payment options and not monthly rent.
How do I pay my installment?
We accept payment via check, money order, or online system.
Is there insurance coverage for a fire, theft, or natural causes? Does my lease provide coverage for my belongings?
The 9 at Central liability insurance will not cover your personal belongings. We suggest getting renter’s insurance for this reason. It is generally inexpensive and will protect your belongings if something happens. If you have any questions about our requirements, please feel free to reach out.
What if I need to break my lease or don't return for the spring semester?
Our lease is binding and cannot be broken. You must re-let if you cannot live here after signing your lease. Please call the leasing office for information on re-letting.
What if I need maintenance in my bedroom or apartment?
If you need maintenance, you can go to your resident portal on our website and fill out a maintenance request. If it is an emergency and after hours, please call (407) 987-5305 and follow the prompt to select emergency maintenance.
What furniture is provided?
The 9 comes fully equipped with energy-efficient appliances and a designer furniture package, which includes a couch, chair, coffee table, media console, 55” TV, barstools, and washer & dryer in the common area. Your bedroom is fully furnished with a full-size XL bed, dresser, nightstand, desk, and chair.
How do I receive mail and packages?
Your mail will be delivered to your apartment’s mailbox on our property. Packages will be delivered using our package locker system so you can retrieve your packages anytime, day or night.
What do I need to bring to my new apartment?
